We have a table in our kitchen near the garage door that we call the clutter table. Its job is to hold all of our crap and it gets cleared off weekly or so. It helps declutter the rest of the house a little.

Exactly. I put my mess onto vertical door hangers, and slide my mess onto clothes hangers that I hide away behind closed doors in a cupboard.

When I wash my mess and hang it out to dry, I fold away my shame into a pile that I sort guiltily onto deep shelves.

Believe it or not I even tangle my socks into folded matching pairs and toss them shamefully into drawers.

Sometimes I even try to burn my mess with a scalding iron whilst listening to podcasts, but alas, the mess just gets neatly flattened and uncreased and so I guiltily place the stack out of sight under my bed inside a slide out drawer.

      FML.

And then I wonder why it feels like I live in a house of cards, where any bad movement makes everything fall apart.

Me, but with laundry piles. And then I complain that I don’t know where any of my clothes are. Yeah, because they’re in about 10 different piles and baskets in 3 different rooms.
