  • Outside the Francevillian lagoon, oceans still lacked phosphorus and carried little oxygen. Larger creatures would have struggled in those harsh surroundings.

These bubbles likely popped up and fizzled out a couple of times before overall conditions spread. Once they did it would have almost been like Star Wars, previously isolated “planets” with their own evolutionary past and possibly drastically different lengths of evolution before mixing.

Squids might be so weird because they were from a different pocket than everything else, it would explain why their DNA is so “alien”.

  • some strange belief that the court system matters anymore

    Plausible deniability.

But the courts putting ten toes down and saying they must be returned is important. Even tho that prison they’re being sent to is a literal death camp, it’s far away and there’s plausible deniability about what’s happening.

It’s literally the same thing Germans went thru during WW2, lots of them, especially the military, had no idea what was actually happening and thought it was just prison.

You may not understand why the courts making a stand here is important. But them not doing pushes back the timeline of us getting out of this by years.

This is a very important step, and trump didn’t take the time to undermine the courts before pulling it.

This leads to less people suffering, so it’s very important to understand and support the parts of our legal system that is actually trying to do something. Even if they fail, it’s important they’re doing it.

Just in general, I’m tired of people acting like trying is only worth it when you know you’re winning.

Everyone needs to wake the fuck up to this not being a battle, it’s a war. And you never win a war without losing a few battles.

  • Meh, it’s a thing in the military because female military members are segregated and have different uniforms.

A woman in the military isn’t described as that, they’re a “femal soldier/sailor/marine” and all their uniforms, regs, standards, and housing comes with that prefix.

Even tho “female” descriptor comes first it’s to ingrain that above all else they’re a service member.

It’s about what the noun is.

It took a couple years till I stopped slipping, and I understand why a service member would use it. That shit gets so beat intto you that you really don’t even notice it. So when you get let out into the civilian world, it’s hard to break the habit. Those people would appreciate being called out that what they’re doing is weird for civvies tho.

    But yeah…

99% of the people using it are just fucking weird.
